Based on the same proven design as our Longwool Car Seat Covers, this version uses sheepskins that have been shorn to a uniform wool length of approximately 22 mm (7/8 inch). The shorter, dense fleece creates a smooth and supportive seating surface, making it particularly comfortable for everyday driving and longer journeys.

Each cover is made from two carefully selected New Zealand sheepskin pelts, retaining their natural shape. The headrest section features a flexible backing that stretches over most standard headrests, while adjustable hook-and-loop straps help keep the cover securely in position.

Both styles use genuine New Zealand sheepskin and share the same universal easy-fit design, but they offer a different feel.

Our Short Wool Car Seat Cover has an approximately 22 mm (7/8 inch) fleece, providing a dense, supportive and more streamlined seating surface.

Our Longwool Car Seat Cover retains the longer natural fleece for a softer, plusher and more luxurious appearance.

If you prefer a neat, supportive feel — particularly for frequent driving or longer journeys — the Short Wool option is an excellent choice.

Universal Easy-Fit Design

Our Short Wool Sheepskin Car Seat Covers feature a universal-fit design suitable for most cars, trucks and RVs with headrests up to approximately 30 cm (12 inches) wide.

The overall cover length is approximately 142 cm (56 inches), measured from the top of the headrest, down the seat back and across to the front edge of the seat base.

Unlike a fully fitted seat cover, the sheepskin covers the front seating surface while leaving the rear of the seat accessible, so existing seat-back pockets can still be used.

To fit your cover, position the headrest as low as practical and gently stretch the top section over it. Feed the adjustable hook-and-loop straps through and underneath the seat and secure them out of sight. The flexible backing around the headrest helps provide a snug and secure fit.

Because this is a universal design rather than a vehicle-specific fitted cover, the exact fit and coverage will vary depending on the shape and dimensions of your vehicle's seats.

Important – Seat-Mounted Airbags

If your vehicle has side airbags built into the seat itself, it is essential that the cover does not interfere with their operation.

Depending on the design of your seats, excess sheepskin at the sides may need to be carefully trimmed to maintain clearance around the airbag deployment area. Always check your vehicle manufacturer's instructions regarding the use of seat covers with seat-mounted airbags before fitting or modifying the cover.

When passing the straps underneath the seat, take care to avoid electrical wiring, sensors, seat motors, rails and other mechanisms.

Every Short Wool Car Seat Cover is handcrafted to order in New Zealand from genuine New Zealand sheepskins. Each cover requires two individual pelts to be carefully selected and matched before being made into the finished cover.

Please allow approximately 3–4 weeks for your covers to be made before they are ready to ship.

As genuine sheepskin is a natural product, variations in wool texture and colour are completely normal. Dyed colours can also vary slightly between individual sheepskins and dye batches, making every cover unique.

As these covers are individually made to order, we recommend choosing your colour carefully before placing your order.

Caring for Your Short Wool Sheepskin Car Seat Cover

Regular Care: Occasionally remove the cover and gently shake it to remove loose dust and debris. A soft sheepskin care brush can also be used to help maintain the wool and prevent matting in areas receiving frequent contact.

Spot Cleaning: Attend to spills promptly. Blot excess liquid rather than rubbing, then gently clean the affected area using cold or lukewarm water and a detergent specifically suitable for wool or sheepskin.

Washing: When a deeper clean is required, the sheepskin can be carefully washed using a wool or sheepskin-specific detergent. Avoid conventional laundry detergents containing enzymes, bleach or fabric softeners, as these can damage the wool and leather.

Drying: Allow the cover to air dry naturally in the shade, away from direct sunlight and heat. Do not tumble dry or place it against a heater or radiator. Gently reshape the leather while damp and brush the wool once completely dry.
