Care for Sheepskin, the Way Nature Intended

Sheepskin is a remarkable natural material, valued for its breathability, resilience and natural temperature regulation, but it performs best when cared for correctly. Unlike synthetic fibres, both the leather backing and wool pile respond to how they are washed, dried and handled over time. Using gentle, enzyme free washing products such as a dedicated sheepskin shampoo or mild wool detergent helps prevent the leather from becoming brittle while preserving the wool’s natural softness and spring.

Caring for sheepskin does not need to be complicated, but it does require a thoughtful approach. Cold or lukewarm water and slow air drying are key principles, while regular airing and light spot cleaning reduce the need for frequent washing. Complementary care tools like suede protectors and long wool brushes support different products, from baby and medical sheepskins to rugs, car seat covers and slippers, helping maintain their comfort, appearance and longevity for years to come.
