Our Classic Premium Sexto Sheepskin Rug is made from six carefully selected and matched New Zealand sheepskin pelts, expertly joined together to create a generously sized statement rug. Beautifully soft and luxurious underfoot, it’s ideal for larger living spaces, beside or across a bed, in front of a sofa, or anywhere you want to introduce the natural warmth and texture of genuine sheepskin.

Made from premium New Zealand-grown sheepskins, each pelt is carefully selected for its wool density, softness and overall appearance before being matched with the other pelts that will form your rug. The sheepskins are tanned in New Zealand using a gentle process without harsh chemicals, helping preserve the natural softness, lustre and character of the wool.

Available in Ivory White, Honey, Grey, Chocolate and Black. Our Ivory White is the natural creamy-white shade of genuine sheepskin rather than a bright artificial white, so subtle cream and yellow undertones are part of its authentic character.

Because genuine sheepskin is a natural product, no two Sexto rugs are exactly alike. Small variations in wool length, texture and colour are completely natural. Considerable care is taken to select and match all six pelts to create a beautifully balanced finished rug.

Made to Order in New Zealand

Each Sexto rug is made to order in New Zealand, allowing our tannery to carefully select and match the six individual sheepskins specifically for your rug. Please allow approximately 2–3 weeks for your rug to be made before it is ready to ship.

Caring for Your Sheepskin Rug

Regular Care: Shake your rug outdoors regularly and gently brush the wool with a sheepskin care brush. This helps lift the wool fibres, maintain their softness and reduce matting, particularly in higher-traffic areas.

Spot Cleaning: Attend to small spills promptly using cold or lukewarm water and a suitable wool or sheepskin detergent. Clean gently rather than rubbing vigorously, which can cause the wool to mat. Avoid soaking the leather unnecessarily.

Deep Cleaning: While our larger sheepskin rugs can be washed, we generally don't recommend washing them at home. Multi-pelt rugs become very heavy when wet and can be difficult to dry evenly while maintaining their shape and softness. For a full clean, we recommend using a professional cleaner experienced with genuine sheepskin or leather-backed wool rugs.

What to Avoid: Do not use hot water, bleach, fabric softeners or conventional detergents containing enzymes. Keep your sheepskin away from direct heat when wet, including heaters, radiators and tumble dryers.

With regular brushing, occasional spot cleaning and professional cleaning when required, your New Zealand sheepskin rug can retain its natural softness, beauty and luxurious wool finish for many years.
