Caring for Your Double Sheepskin Rug

Regular Care: Give your rug an occasional shake and brush it regularly with a sheepskin care brush. This helps lift and separate the wool fibres, maintain their natural softness and reduce matting.

Vacuuming: Loose dust and debris can be removed carefully using a vacuum cleaner on a low-suction setting. Avoid aggressive vacuum heads or rotating brushes that may pull at the wool.

Spot Cleaning: Attend to spills promptly using cold or lukewarm water and a suitable wool or sheepskin detergent. Blot gently rather than rubbing and avoid unnecessarily soaking the leather beneath the wool.

Washing: Genuine sheepskin can be washed when required using a detergent specifically suitable for sheepskin. Always follow the care instructions provided with your rug and allow it to dry naturally away from direct heat.

What to Avoid: Do not use hot water, bleach, fabric softeners or conventional detergents containing enzymes. Do not tumble dry or place wet sheepskin directly beside heaters, radiators or other sources of high heat.

We ship our genuine New Zealand sheepskin rugs to customers throughout New Zealand, the United States and worldwide.

Your Double-Pelt Rug will be carefully packed for its journey. The wool may appear slightly compressed when first unpacked, particularly after international shipping. This is completely normal.

Give your rug a gentle shake and brush through the wool with a sheepskin care brush to help restore its natural loft. The wool will continue to relax and regain its beautifully soft appearance after unpacking.
