Sheepskin Slippers

Our sheepskin slippers or commonly known as house shoes are crafted in New Zealand from premium twinface sheepskin to bring comfort to the moments when you slow down - mornings at home, evenings on the sofa, or stepping out of bed. The natural wool cushions your feet and keeps them at an easy, balanced temperature, while the soft construction makes them ideal for everyday indoor wear. Each pair is finished with care, backed by a 12-month warranty, and loved by customers across the USA, Canada, the UK and Australia.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Kiwi Sheepskin slippers different from cheaper sheepskin slippers I see online?
Three things. First, every pair is handcrafted in New Zealand by our exclusive Canterbury manufacturer, not mass-produced in China. Second, we only use premium-grade twinface sheepskin, a single natural pelt rather than a synthetic shell with a wool lining glued in. Third, you're buying direct from the New Zealand exporter, which is why our pricing is often lower than fancy-branded equivalents in your home country, even with shipping included.
Can I put my sheepskin slippers in the washing machine?
No. Sheepskin footwear must be hand washed only, the machine action damages the suede finish and the structure of the slipper. Use Woolskin Wool Wash in cool or lukewarm water (maximum 40C), wash separately to avoid colour bleed, then rinse, blot with paper towels, reshape, and dry slowly away from heat and sunlight.
How do I stop my sheepskin slippers from smelling?
Air them daily. The natural lanolin in real sheepskin is antibacterial and largely self-cleaning, so most odour problems are solved by a good airing rather than a wash. Light marks can be sponged off with a damp cloth. For deeper cleaning, hand wash with Woolskin Wool Wash and dry slowly.
Are sheepskin slippers too warm to wear in summer?
No. Wool is naturally thermoregulating, it absorbs up to a third of its weight in moisture without feeling damp, then releases that moisture into the air. The result is feet that stay cool and dry in warm weather and warm and dry in cold weather. Many of our customers wear them indoors year round, especially in air-conditioned offices and homes.
How long should a pair of sheepskin slippers last and can the insoles be replaced?
With basic care you can expect several years of regular wear. Wool fibres are remarkably resilient, they bend thousands of times without breaking. On side-stitched styles such as our Loafer Clogs, Bootie Slippers and Men's Premium, the sheepskin insole can be replaced when the wool wears down. Pull out the worn insole, use it as a template, and glue in a fresh plain sheepskin insole.

Why Our Sheepskin Slippers?

Sliding into genuine sheepskin slippers is like wrapping your feet in a soft embrace. The plush fleece cushions every step, turning the simple act of wearing slippers into a daily ritual of comfort. Unlike synthetic linings, sheepskin feels instantly natural and inviting – it’s the difference between something that just covers your feet and something that truly cares for them.

One of the biggest advantages is temperature regulation. The hollow wool fibres create tiny air pockets that insulate in winter yet allow air to circulate in warmer weather. That means no more overheated feet – just year-round comfort that adapts to your body. It’s why slipping on sheepskin feels restorative, almost as if your house shoes are in tune with what you need.

Sheepskin also offers natural support. The dense fleece softens the impact of hard floors, while over time the fibres gently mould to your unique shape. With lanolin present in the wool, your feet stay fresh and soft, while the natural antibacterial qualities of sheepskin help resist odours. Durable by nature, these fibres can flex thousands of times without breaking, so your slippers are built to last.

There’s also something grounding about knowing your slippers are crafted from an authentic, renewable material. Around 95% of our products are proudly made here in New Zealand, where sheepskin is part of our heritage. More than just footwear, these house shoes bring warmth, ease and a touch of luxury into everyday life – transforming cold, tired feet into happy, cosy ones the moment you step inside.
