Can I put my sheepskin slippers in the washing machine?
No. Sheepskin footwear must be hand washed only, the machine action damages the suede finish and the structure of the slipper. Use Woolskin Wool Wash in cool or lukewarm water (maximum 40C), wash separately to avoid colour bleed, then rinse, blot with paper towels, reshape, and dry slowly away from heat and sunlight.
How do I stop my sheepskin slippers from smelling?
Air them daily. The natural lanolin in real sheepskin is antibacterial and largely self-cleaning, so most odour problems are solved by a good airing rather than a wash. Light marks can be sponged off with a damp cloth. For deeper cleaning, hand wash with Woolskin Wool Wash and dry slowly.
Are sheepskin slippers too warm to wear in summer?
No. Wool is naturally thermoregulating, it absorbs up to a third of its weight in moisture without feeling damp, then releases that moisture into the air. The result is feet that stay cool and dry in warm weather and warm and dry in cold weather. Many of our customers wear them indoors year round, especially in air-conditioned offices and homes.
How long should a pair of sheepskin slippers last and can the insoles be replaced?
With basic care you can expect several years of regular wear. Wool fibres are remarkably resilient, they bend thousands of times without breaking. On side-stitched styles such as our Loafer Clogs, Bootie Slippers and Men's Premium, the sheepskin insole can be replaced when the wool wears down. Pull out the worn insole, use it as a template, and glue in a fresh plain sheepskin insole.
