Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between sheepskin slippers and sheepskin boots?
Slippers are designed for indoor or light outdoor wear with the wool cushioning your feet from underneath. Boots cover more of the foot and ankle for extra warmth, and come in heights ranging from ankle and mid calf (15 to 24cm) through to full calf and the extra tall Musketeer. Each style has a Footwear Sizing tab on the product page showing boot height and calf circumference for every size.
Are your sheepskin slippers and boots made from real sheepskin?
Yes. Every pair is handcrafted from premium-grade twinface sheepskin, a single natural pelt with a soft suede finish on the outside and a plush wool fleece pile inside. There are no synthetic linings and no glued-in wool. We don't manufacture cheaper imitations and we don't import from China. Our Canterbury-based New Zealand footwear manufacturer has specialised in sheepskin for over 20 years.
Can I wear sheepskin footwear outdoors?
Most styles can. Slippers and boots with chunky TPR side-stitched soles or EVA soles are non-marking and suitable for indoor use plus light to moderate outdoor wear. Only our soft hide soled slippers and indoor boots are strictly for inside the house. For wet conditions, treat the suede with our Sheepskin Protector & Water Repellent spray first.
How do I clean and care for my sheepskin footwear?
Hand wash only, never put sheepskin slippers or boots in the washing machine. Use cool or lukewarm water (no warmer than 40C) with Woolskin Wool Wash, which is formulated for sheepskin and free from the enzymes and bleach found in regular detergents. Wash separately to avoid colour bleed, pat dry with paper towels, reshape with more paper towels inside, then dry slowly away from direct sun and heat. Spray with Sheepskin Protector before first wear and after every clean.
Do you offer wide-fitting footwear or styles with arch support?
We stock regular widths only, but the soft natural sheepskin accommodates a range of foot widths and tends to mould to the shape of your foot over time. If you're between sizes, going up half a size often helps. None of our footwear has a built-in arch. The foam-backed sheepskin insoles in our Ultimate boots are removable and can be swapped for shaped orthotics if you need more support.
